Jennie Oshman

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, of Athletic Connection, I am amazed at how an inspired vision became a reality.  After one conversation with my partner, Kenneth Miller, I understood the vision and saw the potential in AthleteConnection.

I am a Texas native and grew up in Dallas.  I earned my bachelor's degree in finance and accounting at Denver University. Not long after graduation, I changed my career path and began a teaching career at a private school for children with autism spectrum disorders.  I taught for eleven years, acquired my special education certification, a master's degree in Exceptionality, and my Educational Diagnostician certification. During my career in education, I was a mentor, curriculum coordinator, assessment coordinator, and team leader.  When I became an Educational Diagnostician, I worked with a private clinic and assisted with clinical diagnosis and intake.  My final year in education I led school two middle school assessment teams.  In the summer of 2017 I relocated to Katy, Texas from Houston to raise my daughter Hannah.

My career change may seem like a big leap, this felt like natural step for me.  I was no stranger to the world of entrepreneurs and sports.  My family were pioneers in the sporting goods industry.  My grandfather, Ancil Oshman, was the President of Oshman’s Sporting Goods.  His cousin, Jake Oshman, had founded Oshman’s Dry Goods which became Oshman’s Sporting’s Goods. Their unique retail format allowed customers to play with and try out merchandise before they purchased.  Oshman's created the "megastore" concept.

The Oshman’s were trendsetters and pioneers of the sporting goods industry.  AthleteConnection is a leader in innovation and pushing the envelope in the world of sports performance training.  Our concept, programming, equipment, and most importantly “dream team” staff, provide unique and elite training to all athletes.

After we complete our expansion, my goal is to assist in the creation of a non-for-profit organization, along with my partner Kenneth Miller, to fund scholarships and programs for student athletes and assist in the development of programs for students with disabilities.  I have always had a passion for advocacy and community involvement.  I am a member of the Katy Chamber of Commerce, US Women’s Chamber of Commerce, The Women President’s Organization, and I serve on the Economic Development Committee for the National Small Business Association.
